March For Babies

Click here to help me reach my goal!

As you might be aware, our family has been touched by the March of Dimes mission to prevent premature birth and infant mortality. That`s why formed a Family Team to raise money and participate in March for Babies, on April 18, 2009. The March for Babies is a four mile walk in downtown Phoenix. You are all welcome to join us!

In November 2007, Drake and Leo were born at 30 weeks gestation. The normal length of a pregnancy is 40 weeks. Drake was the bigger of the two, weighing 3lb 10 oz. Because he wasn't receiving enough blood flow in the womb, Leo was small for his gestational age, weighing 2lb 7 oz.

Both boys were too small to breathe on their own when they were born. Within the first few days of life, they both received a drug called surfactant that helped their tiny, immature lungs open up and function like more developed lungs. Because of the surfactant, not only did Drake and Leo survive prematurity, but they are growing into strong, healthy boys. The March of Dimes steered and funded the research that developed surfactant and all of the other medical treatments the boys received in the hospital.

Through their continued research in helping find new options and solutions for premature babies, the March of Dimes makes it possible for babies such as Leo and Drake to not only survive but thrive. So please, join us in supporting the March of Dimes by clicking on the logo on the right side of the blog. Once you are on our March for Babies website, you can donate to the March of Dimes by selecting "Sponsor My Walk", you can create a logo to put on your own website by selecting "Give Me a Boost", and you can sign up to walk with us by clicking on "Walk With Me".

From the bottoms of our hearts, thank you.
