Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Yesterday morning, Matt and I woke up at 5:30am and realized that something wasn't quite right. Both babies had been sleeping in their cribs since about 8:30pm the previous evening. In a near stupor from sleeping through the night for the first time in well over six months ourselves, we stumbled into the boys' bedroom to make sure everything was okay. We found Leo sound asleep on his back, and Drake snoozing on his side, sucking on fingers from both hands.

Matt and I had a quiet, leisurely half-hour or so before the boys woke up. It was a wonderful way to start the day!

Later in the day, I took the boys to their first appointment with their new pediatrician. We got some absolutely amazing, wonderful news! The boys have caught up to their actual age with their gross motor skills, and their fine motor skills and language skills are right on target for their adjusted age. The doctor told me that it is very rare for preemies to start catching up to their actual age so quickly, and she called the boys little superstars! But we already knew they are little superstars :) .

Drake weighed 13lb 11oz and was 25 inches long, and Leo weighed 11lb 5.5 oz and was 24 inches long. Drake gained 18 ounces in the last month, and Leo gained 20.5 ounces. If Leo keeps this up, he'll be as chubby as Drake in no time flat!

Both babies were given 4 vaccinations yesterday, so they were very cranky and mildly feverish for the rest of the day. Drake was a crankpot all night, and ended up spending most of the night snuggled next to me in bed, but Superstar Leo slept through the night in his crib. The little guys will start sleeping through the night consistently any day now. Sleep, glorious sleep!
